MEET NELIS

Arkstore was established in 2021 by its owner Nelis Malan. The idea for Arkstore started to develop during his first marathon trail run in the Karoo.
With no experience in what gear to use or even what a nutrition strategy was, to complete such an event, the simple fact that there had to be many more athletes out there who were asking the same questions was a reality.
Most athletes, unless their health starts to take strain, or injuries happen, never even consider what extra daily supplements are needed during training and if you don’t have a coach then a nutrition strategy for a race becomes a dangerous ‘hit and miss’ game of putting together your own ideas of what is going to work by asking other athletes.
The same applies about what socks to wear for what sports to avoid blisters and chafing, not to mention the expensive path on finding the correct shoes and fit.
Not having the guidance on all the above can lead to one injury after the other and even nutrition based auto-immune diseases.
When diving deeper Nelis discovered that there were not many companies in South Africa that provided guidance to athletes about what products and gear to use for a marathon or an ultra marathon trail runner.
After months of research, Nelis identified a local sports supplement brand that has been developed by a sports nutritionist and Rheumatoid specialist from Cape Town.
The S3 products are made from premium quality ingredients and can be used by both adults as well as children, with the goal to help athletes receive the right supplements, electrolytes, and protein to assist in them excelling in their sports.
So the vision of Arkstore has evolved providing an online platform to connect the S3 Nutrition Brand and other products such as Revive, which both Nelis and Simone trust and believe in, because they have tested and used them themselves.
Recently Arkstore has become a proud supplier of Merrell trail shoes. Merrell believe that doing what you love should feel good, both mentally and physically.
What I love about Merrell trail shoes is the fact that you can run a race out of the box. There are multiple options to choose from, including my favorite the Merrell MTL longsky which is light and responsive for shorter trails.

Being an trail runner myself, and being married to Simone who is a Biokineticist and ultra trail runner, the vision of Arkstore has evolved into a passion to help other athletes onto the right path to being healthy and injury free.

I work with each patient through a one-on-one approach to tackle each challenge and obstacle, with the patient receiving individual attention. My primary goal is to improve quality of life through exercise and movement.
Simone studied at the University of the Freestate. She received a honors degree in Kinderkinetics in 2007 and a honors degree in Sport Science in 2008.
In 2011 she continued her studies and completed her honors degree in Biokinetics. After accumulating 8 years of experience in the field of biokinetics she opened her practice in Bloemfontein.
